Lee Strobel
Lee Patrick Strobel (s. 25.01.1952) on ateistista kristityksi kääntynyt entinen Chicago Tribune -lehden toimittaja.1 Hän toimi opettavana pastorina Willow Creek Community Church -kirkossa Etelä Barringtonissa, Illinois'ssa2. Nykyään hän toimii johtajana "the Lee Strobel Center fo Evangelism and Applied Apologetics"-linjalla Coloradon kristillisessä yliopistossa. Hän on myös kirjoittanut yli 40 kirjaa.3 Lee on naimisissa vaimonsa Leslien kanssa ja heillä on kaksi lasta, Alison ja Kyle. 4

Lee Strobel valmistui journalismin kandidaatiksi Missourin yliopistosta 1974, ja oikeustieteen maisteriksi Yalen yliopiston oikeusteiteellisestä tiedekunnasta 1979. 5
Ateistista kristityksi apologeetaksi[muokkaa]
Oltuaan suurimman osan elämästään ateisti, Lee piti ajatusta rakastavasta kaikkivoivasta luojasta tyhmänä. Hän oli oppinut hyvin skeptiseksi ihmiseksi journalistina ja oikeustieteilijänä, joten hän halusi kaikille uskomuksilleen todisteita. 6 Leen järkytykseksi hänen agnostinen vaimonsa Leslie kääntyi kristityksi syksyllä 1979. Lee tunsi olonsa petetyksi: "Pyörittelin silmiäni ja varauduin pahimpaan tuntien oloni vedätetyksi. Olin mennyt naimisiin yhden Leslien kanssa... mukavan Leslien, huolettoman Leslien, riskejä ottavan Leslien... ja nyt pelkäsin hänen muuttuvan joksikin seksuaalisesti sulkeutuneeksi sievistelijäksi, joka vaihtaisi nousujohteisen, liikkuvan elämäntapamme yörukousvartioiksi ja likaisten soppajonojen vapaaehtoistyöksi"7. Seuraavina kuukausina Lee huomasi kuitenkin ainoastaan positiivisia muutoksia Leslien arvoissa ja persoonassaan, sekä pari- ja perhesuhteissa. Tämä sai Leen harkitsemaan asioita uudestaan ja hän päätti ottaa asioista selvää. Hän suostui kerran lähtemään vaimonsa kanssa kirkkoon, taka-ajatuksenaan saada Leslie ulos tästä kultista. Kirkossa hän sai kuulla ensimmäistä kertaa selkeästi kristinuskon ydinajatuksista. Hän oli edelleen ateisti, mutta hän että jos kristinusko on totta, sillä on valtava vaikutus hänen elämäänsä. Hän päätti aloittaa tutkinnan hyödyntäen journalistin ja oikeustieteen osaamistaan, ja pyrki selvittämään, josko kristinuskolla – tai jollain muullakaan vaihtoehtoisella maailmankatsomuksella – olisi uskottava totuuspohja. 6 Tutkittuaan Jeesukseen liittyvää todistusaineistoa lähes kaksi vuotta, Lee otti vastaan Jeesuksen anteeksiantajanaan ja johtajanaan. 8 Lee kirjoitti myöhemmin useita kirjoja tutkimuksistaan, joista Tapaus Kristus on julkaistu myös suomeksi.
